March: Ghost weddings & SG’s hidden buddhist gems
March was a month of exploring Dhamma in both the entertainment sphere and the Geylang sphere. We also shared about how growth in the Dhamma is non-linear!
Greetings readers and supporters from the mountains of Thailand.
I am returning to Singapore after visiting one of my favourite temples, Wat Marp Jaan.
Dhamma can save lives
March was a pretty fun month for us at HOL as we explored Chade Meng’s story of how Buddhism saved his life. He has also recently launched Buddhism.net, which is an awesome resource for the Buddhist world. They have an ambitious goal to reach 1B readers!
With ambitious goals to touch many lives with Dhamma, HOL also explored how contentment drives ambition.
Ghost wedding and hidden gems
Always trying to see the Dhamma nuggets in our day-to-day lives, writer Zeb explored key lessons from ‘Marry my dead body’ a LGBTQ+ themed ghost wedding movie.
Meanwhile, Marissa explores her journey into Buddhism in a two-part article and how Geylang can be considered the enlightenment hub of Singapore *insert link*.
Other cool topics we explored were an IWD article, engaged Buddhism, and overcoming meditation ruts.
The journey is one of ups and downs
We have been experimenting with video podcasts for quite a few episodes and this one covered Cheryl and Kai Xin’s Dhamma journey.
Speaking of ups, thanks to readers and supporters like you, we have reached 10k unique readers on our website.
I still recall speaking with Kai Xin that if we fell below 200 readers a month, it would prove that our website had no real value to the Buddhist community. Quite an unreal experience!
As our supporters and readers are always the centre of our existence, we would like to share that our community day is on 5th May! If you have yet to sign up, please do so here!
To support your journey in making your meditation practice stick, Kai Xin has started a 30-day meditation challenge with sessions twice daily.
The first session started two days before!
Interesting detours:
When a monk dropped his teacher’s robes, here’s what happened next! (Minute 28),
See you on 5th of May!

Heng Xuan
