HOL in Nov: Buddhist Music & AI
How can we use AI in helping our Buddhist contributions? How can Buddhist music help terrorist victims? November was jam packed for us and the community. Read on!
Greetings, dear readers!
Cheryl here from the podcast team! Having come back from a one-month meditation retreat, I am thrilled to recap on what happened in November.
As we bid farewell to November, let's take a moment to reflect on the diverse and enriching experiences that made this month truly special.
From the launch of Buddhism.net to workshops and inspiring interviews (with the one and only Imee Ooi), November was a tapestry of harmony and spiritual growth. Let's explore the key themes:
1. Digital Spiritual Exploration
Our advisor, Tan Chade Meng marked November with the launch of Buddhism.net.
It's this all-in-one platform for learning Buddhism, developing a practice and finding communities, organized into a neat user-friendly website.
I wished this convenience existed when I first started learning Buddhism!
Reflecting on our passion for knowledge and creativity, we recently hosted a workshop on design and AI for our dedicated volunteers.
This hands-on experience not only boosted their digital skills but also ignited reflections on making a bigger impact in our community.
Check out this repurposed content from one of the participants itself.
2. Music, Camps and Templestay for Spiritual Discovery
We had the privilege to speak to the legendary Voice of Buddhist Music, Imee Ooi. YES, that Imee Ooi. Her melodies have touched the hearts of many.
In this exclusive interview, she shares insights into her super random journey into creating music, and how her melodies comforted the families of the 9/11 victims.
Speaking of international reach, We also learnt how Kyle discovered his “self” in a unique temple stay experience in Korea.
And if you’re running low on budget for flight tickets, you are lucky that the fun Camp Ehi-Passiko for youths is back this year from Dec 8th - Dec 11th 2023. Sign up now!
3. Mindful Living in Modern Times
Now, only a few of us are lucky enough to have the time for a long staycation.
So, we also explore the art of pausing and many actionable tips to incorporate mindfulness in our fast-paced lives, including this handy 1 minute meditation.
The perfect antidote for the busy modern person.
4. Transcending Differences Through Compassion
Finally, in a touching personal reflection, we share a story of friendship transcending religious differences. A dear friend diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma taught us the profound lesson of letting go.
The intersection of Christian and Buddhist beliefs illuminated the path of acceptance and compassion.
As we wrap up November, we express our gratitude for our community's rich sharing of experiences. Stay tuned for more insightful articles and events on the horizon.
With metta,
Cheryl
